What they said about us

After a tour finished, we will get the Testimonies and Feedbacks of our clients. However,  to make it most reliable, we believe that we should make it different from the way our colleagues of other tour operators are doing. Usually, the Testimony on the tour quality quoted in the website just only "Mr. John Smidth, California" or so on, and we or all of you think that it's easy to write plenty of those. We would like to supply our incoming clients full information from our real old guests, who had qualified our services, with their names, jobs, email addresses, date of arrival and so forth. New clients can contact us to get their e-mails to ask for experience of their trips, or simply ask for their comments of our help in Vietnam.

Threeland teams would like to express our warm thanks for the clients who approved us using their emails and email addresses as a reference for incoming travelers of Threeland. For the personal reason, we shouldn't show publicly email address of old clients here but please contact us at contact@threeland.com to get theirs to share with his/her travel experience in Vietnam.

Bill William Smith, based in Boulder City - Nevada, the member of Rotary Club, together with 37 people, joined your 15 days VIETNAM in  Nov 2005 ( similar to THE LONG WAY UP, a ready-made tour of THREELAND ). After his very happy trip, he immediately plans another group in Nov 2005 to Vietnam

Tung,

We certainly do thank you for such a wonderful tour of Vietnam. Both Elaine and I appreciate the opportunity to have dinner with you and the very beautiful table cloths. I have contacted Singapore Air about space in November and will be in contact with you as soon as I have some suggested dates from them. We will be looking for a similar tour with some minor modifications and will very likely want to start in Hanoi instead of Saigon.

If there is any way I have be of help to you here in America I will be glad to assist in any way that I can and please feel free to use me as a reference.

Will be in contact again soon.

And his comment of tours

1. How about the program: Are you really enjoyable and satisfied with all sightseeing points and have you experienced any problem at each destination ? Program was exactly what I wanted. Only problem was a late flight (2-hrs) from HCM to Cambodia - missed part of a city tour.

2. Tourguide: how about the level of English, knowledge, enthusiasm etc? Overall, very good.

3. Land transfer: how about the quality and manner of serving? Excellent.

4. Hotels: Quality and manner of serving

- Army hotel in Hanoi very good

- Festival hotel in Hue very good

- Chancery hotel in Saigon not quite as good as I would have expected

- Princess hotel in Phnompenh very good

- Angkor Holiday in Siemreap Outstanding

5. Meals: quality and manner of serving Excellent

David Grigg, an American architect, together with his family of 8 people, took ours 16 days VIETNAM - CAMBODIA tours in Jul 2004

Hello
Thank you for your email updating me on your investigations. My main concern with respect to this issue was the potential impact on the reputation of Threeland if you were to continue to use this untrustworthy driver, and I am very happy to hear that you have decided not to use him again.
Please be assured that the incident in Cambodia has in no way impacted our happiness with our time in Vietnam and Cambodian. Nor in the high degree of satisfaction that I have with Threeland and its staff. Le Tu Anh did a fantastic job for us, and the quality of the drivers and guides was excellent.
I will very happily fill in your survey form. In addition I offer the following additional comments:
Hotel selection throughout was excellent. I would suggest that where possible you offer your clients different room grade choices. For example, at the hotel in Hoi An we had been booked in to "garden view" rooms, which were adequate but located in an area with little privacy and looking at a pathway. The hotel upgraded us to "river view" rooms which were much lighter and more airy.
The hotel in Siem Reap was particularly good, and one that I would recommend that you use again.
Breakfasts in the hotels were very good, with the exception of the Grand in HCMC -- which was very mediocre. We rarely ate in the hotels, but the restaurant at the hotel in Hue was extremely good.
In hindsight, it was also not the best idea for us to have Oliver (the nine year old) join us in a regular double. In most situations it was necessary for us to arrange for an extra bed as the twin beds typically provided were not easily shared with Oliver -- who is a rather big child. The hotels were all very cooperative in making the changes when we checked in.
The Halong Bay boat trip was greatly enjoyed -- especially by the men and boys in our group -- but the women and girls had concerns about the comfort of the boat. As I am a sailor, I am very accustomed to life aboard a boat. For future clients travelling with children, you may want to advise them that accommodations are clean but very basic, and that they should not expect such luxuries as hot showers and air conditioning. The food was excellent and the staff very kind and accommodating.
As I mentioned above, the drivers and guides were all very good (with the exception of the driver in Cambodia). I completed evaluation forms for Mr Dinh and Mr Toh which I hope you received. They were both very satisfactory, as was Wan A in Siem Reap (who had extensive specialist knowledge of Angkor and its ruins). Special mention should be made of Mr Nam who is one of the best guides that I have ever encountered. His knowledge, courtesy and thoughtfulness are fantastic. Both Mr Toh and Mr Nam's knowledge of Vietnamese history and culture are very high.
Le Tu Anh should also be commended for her kindness and professionalism. It has been a pleasure dealing with her over the past few months, and her speed in resolving the visa problems we had in Cambodia was commendable.
All in all, many thanks to Threeland Travel for making our time in Vietnam and Cambodia such a success and a thoroughly memorable experience.
Best wishes for your continued success.

Regards David Grigg

Bonnie Beresford,  based in White Lake, Michigan, USA, together with her 3 friends, took our 13 days POP TOUR No1 in Nov 2004

Dear Ms. Le Tu Anh

We very much enjoyed our tour of Viet Nam.  We liked the flexibility of our guides, Tran (in the North) and Tom (in Central).  We were a little bit disappointed by Kwa (in the South).  We felt like we were inconveniencing him.  Tran and Tom were so wonderful, they set a very high standard for Kwa ... who wasn't able to match their level of service or personality.

Tom was wonderful in rearranging our itinerary around the typhoon.  We had quite an adventure, but felt very comfortable with Tom leading the way.

The hotels were all first rate (with the exception of Saigon ... but I know that in big cities, the nicer hotels would have cost more).  We loved the North and Central -- both because of our guides, the people we met and the scenery.

A couple of suggestions ...

Two nights on the boat!!!  Ha Long Bay was truly a highlight!

Allow a little more flexibility around meals ... we felt that our entire trip was planned around "when to have lunch/dinner" and that it was all pre-determined right down to the place and time ...  While this is nice on some occasions, it really dictated our schedules (especially the lunches).  Maybe it would be ok to NOT include all the meals, allowing the guests to eat a light meal at a more local place ... or even to skip a meal if we're having fun and aren't hungry!

Overall, we were very pleased with the service provided by you and your company.  Your flexibility in arranging (and re-arranging) our itinerary was fantastic.  We were well-taken care of and thoroughly enjoyed Tran and Tom!  We would recommend them and Threeland to our friends and family!  Threeland truly was "Simply Our Best Local Friend!"

Best regards,  Bonnie Beresford  White Lake, Michigan

Hi Nghiem,

I just wanted to send you this photo,  and to tell you that we had a wonderful time on our tour of Vietnam.   All of the guides and drivers were wonderful,  and our accommodations and restaurants were superb.  You have a very beautiful country,  and we certainly plan to come back in the near future.  Thank you for all of your help

Hi Nghiem,

It is so nice to hear from you.  I have thought of you often during this SCARS scare.  I know that it has been very hard on your economy since most people are afraid to travel to countries that are having a problem with this illness.  However, it seems now that the countries that have had the biggest problems are starting to get a handle on things.  At least in all the countries except China. The newspapers in the USA are all saying that things are much better now in Vietnam.  I think that soon the scare will be over and things can return to normal.

I would be delighted to give anyone who is interested in travel to Vietnam,  a reference for your company.  I have already told many people how fortunate I was to have chosen your company for my tour. The drivers, tour guides, hotels, restaurants, and the tours that you chose for Kay and I were wonderful.  And, of course, the beautiful scenery and friendly people that we met are really hat made our trip special.  Please feel free to use me as a reference with this New York Collage group,  or any person, or group, that may be interested in visiting Vietnam.  They are welcome to call me on the phone, or e-mail to me. My phone number is 570-421-6781,  and my e-mail address is ....

I am flying back to Thailand next week to spend some more time with Kay.  We have been trying to get her a visa to come and stay with me in the USA,  but since the terrorist attack of 911, it has been very difficult to get a visa.   As you can see, the SCARS scare isn't keeping me from flying.  Getting a flight, however, was a little difficult since many flights were cancelled.  I think that it will start to get better soon.

I wish you much success with your tour business

Threeland President,

Please excuse my delay in sending a thank you letter to your firm but I have been quite busy with my business since returning from Vietnam just over a month ago.

I am writing today to thank you for the wonderful job done by all those in dealt with in your company beginning with Ta Phuong Thuy who was of great assistance in planning my itinerary with your firm.  She was very helpful in making itinerary suggestions, her written English was excellent and finally, she was extremely prompt in responding to my e-mail inquiries.  She's truly a star.

Secondly, the guide and interpreter assigned to my for my two tours from Hue to Lao Bao-A Luoi- Hue, did an excellent job in showing me the sights I wanted to see, being flexible when I wanted to modify the itinerary, very  professional and courteous and most importantly having a good command of the English language and a strong desire to learn the language even better.  He did an overall excellent job and he's certainly an asset to your company.

Finally, my driver, Mr. Tran Viet Than , and the new Korean car, were also excellent.  A new car was a pleasant surprise and the driver's driving skills were excellent and were far superior to those of other driver's I used during my tour though Vietnam.

In closing, you are to be commended for running a first class operation that excels at Customer Service and I will recommend your company to friends who may wish to travel to Vietnam in the future.

Joe, a chemistry teacher and Galie Stone, a mathematic teacher, took our 23-day "The Long Way up" tour plus extension to Phu Quoc island on Feb 2004, as a celebration after the success of their son's hiking. He had been hiking a walking Trail called the Appalachian Trail which goes from the State of Maine to the State of Georgia in the USA. He totally hiked ( walked) 2178 miles for 5 months.

Dear Nguyen,

Thank you for our wonderful trip to Vietnam on February 9, 2004.  "The Long Way Up" trip is and excellent way to get to know a little about Vietnam.  It is an excellent value.  We hope we can convince more Americans to visit Vietnam and we are still basking in the warm memories of our fantastic trip.  We loved the people of Vietnam, the sites we visited, the beautiful country, the food, the excellent hotels and our guides and drivers.  All of the food we ate was delicious, but some of it was incredible, both in taste and the beauty of its presentation.  Many times we had too much to eat, eight to ten courses is too much food.  We also were able to taste and enjoy different foods from each region.  We loved the food so much that we are looking for a Vietnamese cooking class.  Because we were the only people on our trip we got to know our guides well and we really enjoyed them.  They were very devoted to making sure we had a safe and enjoyable trip.  We could understand their English and we learned so much about your county.  We had five different guides in the different parts of the country and we were glad to have so many different perspectives.  We are now corresponding by email with two of our wonderful guides.  We were very impressed with the ability of our drivers.  In Vietnam a driver needs to be able to squeeze through tight spaces in traffic safely and our drivers were the best.

The temples, pagodas, museums, national parks and markets that we visited were so interesting and educational.  The Pagodas are so incredibly beautiful and the stories of the Goddess of Mercy, Buddha, Confucius, and many more historical figures.  The History Museum and our guide, Hoan, in Ho Chi Minh City gave us an excellent overview of Vietnam through the ages.  We loved every city we visited, but Dalat, Hoi An, Hue, and Hanoi stand out in our memories as cities we would like to visit again and learn more about.

The extra trips that you helped us plan were excellent.  Phu Quoc was beautiful, quiet, and had wonderful beaches for swimming.  We hired a taxi to see the northern part of the island and wished we had spent several more days on Phu Quoc so that we could see even more.  The Saigon Phu Quoc Resort was an excellent 4 star resort set among  palms, trees and flowers overlooking a beautiful beach.

We have so many fond memories of our trip to Cat Ba island.  Riding on motor cycle taxis was so much fun.  The hike that our guide, Loi, worked out for us with the help of a man who used to be a security guard in Cat Ba National Park was perfect.  It was about 8 km. long and we saw much of the National Park.  At the end we visited a cave that was used by the army during the American-Vietnamese war.  The cave is 3 stories high and was used as a hospital and relaxation place for the Vietnamese army, and our guide through the cave was a former army man who worked in the cave during the war.  He was so cute and he sang us a song.

Our visit to the Orphanage arranged by you was wonderful and meaningful.  The director of the orphanage spent more than an hour with us answering our questions and giving us a tour.  We would like to help the orphanage more by sending them clothes.  We would also like to know more about how to adopt a child from the orphanage.  We are too old to adopt, but we know many Americans who are desperately wanting to adopt a baby or young child. If we can find people who are going to visit the orphanage we could send clothing for the orphans with them.  The visit Bich arranged to the school was very enlightening.  The Vietnamese school system is excellent.  We were very impressed by the teachers and students.

In short we loved your country and the hard working people and we encourage others to take a trip with Threeland.  We encourage interested people to email us at jstone5@rochester.rr.com and we will answer any questions or tell more about our trip.

Sincerely, Joe and Gail Stone

Thanks Mr. Joe for your big donation to Orphanages of handicapped children in Vietnam.  In addition, the teachers and pupils at the local primary school again and again talked about "a giant Westerner" who is very friendly with them.
